Abstract
A little more than 100 years ago, in 1894, Guglielmo Marconi began the research that would lead to the development of the first practical wireless communication setups [EW92b]. Since then, the invention and development of wireless communication has had an enormous influence on the cultural and social evolution of 20th century society. Radio and television have become mass products and media with an impact on everybody’s daily life that should not be underestimated.
