Energy Density and Power Density of Electrical Energy Storage Devices

  • Chapter
Electrochemical Supercapacitors

Abstract

The relation between power and energy requirements in the operation of “prime movers” has long been an important topic in the engine industry, starting with the period of steam and improvements in the efficiency of the Newcomen atmospheric steam engine by Watt through his separate condenser, and the invention of indicator diagrams for recording efficiency.
