Abstract
Back pain is a common orthopedic complaint with numerous potential causes. It is important to distinguish those which require urgent surgical management from sprains and strains which are frequently encountered and which are adequately managed conservatively. The history is extremely important in this regard, particularly with respect to neurological symptoms.
