Abstract

Human hair is a complex tissue consisting of several morphological components (see Chapter 1), and each component consists of several different chemical species. For simplicity and ease of discussion, the different types of chemicals that comprise human hair are described separately in this chapter. However, for a clear understanding of its chemical and physical behavior, one should keep in mind that human hair is an integrated system where several or all or its components can act simultaneously.
