Abstract

Scintigraphy of the lungs is a unique method that provides quantitative regional information on pulmonary blood flow, ventilation, volume, and gas diffusion. Radiography of the chest provides anatomic information but is not as specific and quantitative for ventilation and perfusion. Pulmonary function tests are quantitative of global pulmonary function but do not give regional information.
