Abstract

Chagas’ disease is restricted to the American continent and has been identified from the southern United States to Argentina1. Its epidemiology is related to poor housing in the rural communities and to trypanosoma cruzi infected triatominae. Less frequently the disease may be transmitted through blood transfusion, congenitally or by accident in the laboratory2. It is estimated that a total of 7 million people are infected3.
