Abstract
Both myocardial and skeletal muscle cells are striated. Their ultrastructures are similar. Each cell is made up of sarcomeres (from Z line to Z line), containing interdigitating thick myosin threads and thin actin threads. The basic mechanism of contraction must be similar in both; but important differences exist.
