Abstract
A joint Army-Navy-Wayne State University study of the dynamic response of the living human head and neck to −Gx impact acceleration was initially presented at the Twelfth Stapp Car Crash Conference (1). In the course of this study a number of volunteer subjects underwent −Gx impact acceleration known to be well within previously established tolerance limits. The motion of the subject’s head and neck in the midsagittal plane were monitored with inertial instrumentation and high speed photography.
