Abstract
The main feature of the discrete systems studied in the preceding chapter is that a finite number of degrees of freedom is sufficient in order to describe their configuration. The differential equations of motion can be easily substituted by a set of linear algebraic equations: The natural mathematical tool for the study of linear discrete systems is matrix algebra.
