Evidence for Explicit Glueballs from the Reaction π p→ ⌽ ⌽ n

Abstract

In a pure Yang-Mills theory1 where SU(3)c has local gauge symmetry, all hadrons would be glueballs2 (i.e., multi-gluon resonances). This is due to the self-coupling of the gluons which becomes stronger with decreasing energy and color confinement.
