Skeletal Maturity in Children Brought-Up under Good Socio-Economic Conditions

  • Chapter
Human Growth and Development

Abstract

Skeletal age evaluation is one of the most objective criteria in auxological diagnosis. The process of skeletal maturation depends, in the first place, on the genetic potential of a given individual, but also on socio-economic conditions, mainly on the quality of nutrition and nutritional habits.(Acheson R.M., Hewitt D, 1954; Kopczyńska-Si.korska J., 1964; Garn S.M., Rohman, CH.G., 1966).
