Abstract
Endocrine glands are ductless glands that secrete hormones directly into the bloodstream to bring about a number of important physiological functions. They include the ovary, testes, pineal, thyroid, parathyroids, ultimobranchial gland, adrenal, pituitary, and islets of Langerhans of the pancreas. In addition, hormones are also secreted in the brain and gastrointestinal tract (Fig. 3.1).
