Abstract
In the quantum theory of laser due to Scully and Lamb [1], the calculation of the off-diagonal elements of the reduced density matrix for the field ρnm was based upon the ansatz that pnm, for m−n ≡ K of order 1, could be obtained from the diagonal elements of the density matrix by using the following prescription.
