Abstract

In the development and production of insulated cryogenic pipe, it is necessary to evaluate the efficiency of the insulations after they have been Installed In the pipe, for It has been found that seemingly small variations In the techniques of applying an insulation can produce significant variations in its efficiency. The purpose of this paper is to describe a technique for measuring the local heat leak in short sections of a cryogenic pipe so that heat leaks through the pipe Insulation, spacers, and couplings can be evaluated separately.
