An 8-In.-Bore 60-kG Superconducting Magnet and Test Facility

Abstract

An 8-in.-bore split-pair stabilteed superconducting magnet capable of generating a central magnetic field intensity of 60 kG has been constructed at Brookhaven National Laboratory. This magnet, with its associated equipment, is being used as a facility to carry out research and development programs for a 7-ft test vessel superconducting magnet and a proposed 14-ft bubble chamber superconducting magnet. A view of this facility is shown in Fig. 1.
