Abstract
For very obvious reasons, it is desirable that pumps and their drivers be removable from their mountings. Consequently, they are usually bolted and doweled to machined surfaces that in turn are firmly connected to the foundations. To simplify the installation of horizontal-shaft units, these machined surfaces are usually part of a conmion baseplate on which either the pump or the pump and its driver have been prealigned.
