Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the Macondo accident with the Deepwater Horizon mobile drilling unit, in part based on Ref. [9]. An overview of what the investigations revealed is presented, together with the main findings. Lessons learned include well drilling lessons and lessons for emergency response planning. Environmental spill and clean-up is not covered in this chapter.
