Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to introduce the topics to be discussed in subsequent chapters of the book. Within each chapter the aim is to provide an introduction to the relevant management concept, principles, systems, procedures and practices that might be considered by a principal contracting organisation when managing that aspect. Each management aspect presented has been the subject of many textbooks over the years. For a comprehensive consideration and understanding of particular management concepts the reader is directed, as a starting point, to the Bibliography at the end of this book.
