This series is dedicated to the examination of cultural influences on the brain-behavior relationship. The correlation of clinical cultural competence and positive treatment outcome has been established. Concomitantly, the impact of a cultural "inheritance," or the subtle interplay of genetic and cultural factors, on an individual’s development and behavior has also been recognized and is slowly being integrated into the clinical arena. The purpose of this series is to enhance the cultural competence of neuropsychologists working in medical, mental health, and educational settings. Series editor Elaine Fletcher-Janzen has recruited well-known experts to focus on cultural variables such as ethnicity, age, gender, and socio-economic status. The series theme of diversity may itself be interpreted from diverse perspectives, such as diversity within populations, among populations, as well as in the context of individual differences.
