About this book series

The Japanese Society of Endourology and ESWL has begun publication of a series of books on recent advances in endourology and urological engineering, with plans to issue one volume each year. Topics showing significant new advances will be selected, and recently acquired knowledge and experience will be summarized and analyzed. Distinguished leaders in their fields from around the world will be invited to contribute. Progress is occurring rapidly in such areas as BPH treatment, laparoscopy, and endoscopic stone surgery; urologists spend a large amount of time trying to keep up to date in many fields but find it impossible to stay abreast of all the latest developments. The primary purpose of this series is to provide to urologists in a timely manner the benefits of the most advanced experience in the world. The first volume is dedicated to laparoscopy in urology. The laparoscopic frontier is steadily advancing, not only in terms of engineering but also in terms of urological techniques. Today's less invasive approaches covered in this book will become tomorrow's standard procedures. Urologists must remain at the forefront in the development of these techniques.
