About the editors
Yirong Wu is currently the director of Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences (AIRCAS), and the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his BSc and MSc from Beijing Institute of Technology in 1985 and 1988 respectively, and his PhD from IECAS in 2001. He is the leading expert in the realm of information science in China, and he has been making an important contribution to the development and progress of information science and technology in China. He has published over 100 papers in the field of information science, and he is the member of Degrees Committee of the State Council. He has been in charge of several national major projects, and he has won the National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology for several times. He is the chief scientist ofthe National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), and the information technology expert of the National High Technology Research and Development Program (863 Program). He is currently the Editor-in-Chief for Journal of Electronics & Information Technology, Microsystems & Nanoengineering, and Journal of Radars.
Jianya Gong is professor for Geoinformatics at Wuhan University. He became Academician of the Chinese Academy of Science in 2011. He served as Commission President of the sixth Committee of the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) from 2012 to 2016. He has been engaged in research of fundamental theories and applications of Geographic Information Science for more than 30 years. In the early 1990s, Prof. Gong proposed the concept and data model of object-oriented GIS. This has now become the mainstream technology of GIS software, and it has taken the lead in the development of object-oriented GIS software GeoStar, which has been widely used in many fields such as mapping, land and power management in China. In the field of photogrammetry and remote sensing, he proposed the generalized geometric imaging model and accurate processing method of remote sensing, presided over the development of China's remote sensing satellite ground processing system, and greatly improved the self-positioning accuracy of domestic remote sensing satellite images. Prof. Gong has won the first prize for national scientific and technological progress, three times the second prizes, and one time the Dolezal Achievement Award from the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS).
