About this book
Radiologic evaluation of an infant or child suspected of having a surgical disease can be a complex problem. With this volume, the editors have created a book focused on pediatric imaging written by pediatricians, pediatric surgeons and pediatric radiologists.
This book is a collection of over 200 case reports. The concept is a case study approach: The reader is given radiologic images (plain radiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasonography, etc.) and the clinical history of the patient. On the basis of this information, the reader is asked to identify a diagnostic and therapeutic strategy. Each case is complemented by information on the disease affecting the patient and the management of the case shown, including therapy and follow-up.
This educational text is targeted at all medical professionals faced with a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic problems affecting infants and children.
Reviews
From the reviews:
"This is a series of case studies centered on pediatric surgical conditions presented in radiologic pictures. … This book is highly technical and will be of value … to other pediatric surgeons or fellows in training in either pediatric surgery or radiology. … Photographic quality is important and it is well done; thus the educational value of the book is good. … This is a lovely, well done book of radiologic cases illustrating various conditions seen in pediatric surgery." (Robert M Arensman, Doody’s Review Service, April, 2009)
“Two editors, five associated editors, ninety-six contributors combined their efforts in preparing this book, which is presented in 530 pages, including 249 case evaluations. … Most of the images, clinical, surgical, radiological are of good quality, cleverly mixed and organized. … useful to those (paediatricians, paediatric surgeons, radiologists) who have to deal with children in their daily work, acquainting them with all sorts of radiological and clinical problems and findings.” (Giampiero Beluffi, La Radiologia Medica, Vol. 116, 2011)
