About this book

This book is a concise introduction to the interventional radiology field and is designed to help medical students and residents understand the fundamental concepts related to image-guided interventional procedures and determine the appropriate use of imaging modalities in the treatment of various disorders. It covers the history of interventional radiology; radiation safety; equipment; medications; and techniques such as biopsy and drainage, vascular access, embolization, and tumor ablation. The book also describes the indications, patient preparation, post-procedure care, and complications for the most common interventional radiology procedures.

Reviews

“This is a good primer on interventional radiology for medical students, designed for easy consumption. It will prove helpful to those considering going into the field, while also providing guidance for those going into different fields as to when to call on an interventional radiologist.” (Nikhil Madhuripan, Doody's Book Reviews, February, 2016)

“This compact paperback aims to cover all the major aspects of IR and is written by five Canadian radiologists. … the book can be recommended as a useful introduction to IR and should also find a place in the radiology departments  as an overview of current IR practice.” ( Dr. Nicholas Reading, RAD Magazine, June, 2016)
