About this book

This book examines the development of the social dimension of the European Union and the interconnections between EU and national social policies. The approach is thematic and comparative, covering central concepts and policy-making frameworks at European and national level, and situating them in relation to the main areas of social policy addressed by the Union. The author analyses the Union's role as a social actor and assesses the impact of its social policy agenda on welfare regimes in member states.
