About this book

In this third edition, the authors describe and demonstrate programming in the language C as defined by ANSI standard X3, 159-1989. As in the previous editions, the approach and treatment emphasises the importance of good program structure and style. This is reinforced by the authors' own system of 'style scoring' used for many of the program examples. All the basic features of C are covered in the first seven chapters. More advanced features are dealt with in chapters 8-10, while chapter 11 offers guidance on program style. The final chapter lists the functions and features provided by C-standard conformant implementations, stressing aspects of portability.
