Introduction

In the history of mankind, three revolutions which impact the human life are tool-making revolution, agricultural revolution and industrial revolution. They have transformed not only the economy and civilization but the overall development of the human society. Probably, intelligence revolution is the next revolution, which the society will perceive in the next 10 years.

ICCD-2014 covers all dimensions of intelligent sciences, i.e. Intelligent Computing, Intelligent Communication and Intelligent Devices.

This volume covers contributions from Intelligent Computing, areas such as Intelligent and Distributed Computing, Intelligent Grid & Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Soft Computing and Engineering Applications, Data Mining and Knowledge discovery, Semantic and Web Technology, and Bio-Informatics.

This volume also covers paper from Intelligent Device areas such as Embedded Systems, RFID, VLSI Design & Electronic Devices, Analog and Mixed-Signal IC Design and Testing, Solar Cells and Photonics, Nano Devices, and Intelligent Robotics.

About the editors

Prof. Lakhmi C. Jain is with the Faculty of Education, Science, Technology & Mathematics at the University of Canberra, Australia and University of South Australia, Australia. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia. Professor Jain founded the KES International, a professional community for providing the opportunities for publications, knowledge exchange, cooperation and teaming. Involving around 5000 researchers drawn from universities and companies world-wide, KES facilitates international cooperation and generate synergy in teaching and research. KES regularly provides networking opportunities for professional community through one of the largest conferences of its kind in the area of KES. His interests focus on the artificial intelligence paradigms and their applications in complex systems, security, e-education, e-healthcare, unmanned air vehicles and intelligent agents.

Prof. Srikanta Patnaik is presently serving as Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, SOA University, Bhubaneswar, India. He holds Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering from Jadavpur University, India. He has published more than 80 research papers and articles in international journals and magazines of repute. He has supervised 10 research scholars for their PhDs. He has completed various funded projects as Principal Investigator from various funding agencies of India. He is Editor-in-Chief of two international journals, namely International Journal of Information and Communication Technology and International Journal of Computational Vision and Robotics, published from Inderscience Publishing House, England and also Series Editor of Springer Book Series on Modeling and Optimization in Science and Technology [MOST].

Dr. Nikhil Ichalkaranje is currently serving as Senior ICT Strategist, Office of the Chief Information Officer [CIO], Department of Premier and Cabinet, the Government of South Australia. He holds Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Systems Engineering from University of South Australia (March 2006). He served in various capacities such as Assistant Director, Cyber Security Programs & Security Strategy, Senior Technology Advisor, Department of Broadband, Communications and Digital Economy (DBCDE), Government of Australia. He has produced useful and meaningful research outcomes from diverse methodologies, perspectives and concepts to solve real life problems and support policy makers in forming evidence-based policy. He has a strong academic record of research publications in the computer science and Telecommunication industry including journals, conference papers and edited international books from renowned publishers.
