About this book

This handbook provides a logical and practical approach to cardiac arrhythmia management. This subject has evolved as one of the most rapidly expanding fields within medicine and it is therefore critical to understand the basic principles of arrhythmia mechanisms in order to assist with diagnosis and choosing effective treatment strategies.

Each of the essential aspects of cardiac electrophysiology is covered within the text, presented in an easy-to-use format. For each arrhythmia the etiology, classification, clinical presentation, mechanism, electrophysiology set up, and trouble-shooting procedures are presented and demonstrated using illustrations, fluoroscopy images, ECGs, and endocavity electrograms.

Clinical Handbook of Cardiac Electrophysiology is a widely useful resource that aims to promote this important sub-specialty. It is a valuable reference for cardiac electrophysiologists, fellows and practising cardiologists, family practitioners, cardiology trainees, students, allied professionals, and nurses.

About the editors

Dr Benedict M Glover is a consultant cardiac electrophysiologist and has published 25 articles and 30 abstracts in peer reviewed journals in the field of cardiac electrophysiology. He has also published the book ‘A Clinical Approach to Cardiac Arrhythmia’. (National Services for Health Improvement. 2011). Having recently trained in cardiac electrophysiology he has a deep understanding of the requirements of a cardiac electrophysiology text book. He performs over 200 ablations per annum and has access to a high number of interesting cases and images.

Professor Pedro Brugada is a world renowned cardiac electrophysiologist. Along with his brother he described Brugada syndrome. He is the author of over 1000 peer reviewed articles and numerous books. He is sits on all of the major cardiac electrophysiology boards and is a reviewer for the Lancet, Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, American Journal of Cardiology, International Journal of Cardiology, European Heart Journal, Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine, PACE, Drugs, Cardioselecta, British Heart Journal, Journal of Electrophysiology, Drug Investigation, Cardiology in the Elderly, Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, Resuscitation.

“This book bridges the gap between pathophysiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and clinical applications in common electrophysiological disorders. … The intended audience appears to be practitioners with a keen interest in arrhythmias.  … Each chapter has detailed illustrations, tables, and figures supporting the text, which aid in fostering comprehension. … this book provides a succinct resource readers can use to gather pertinent information about their diagnosis and management.” (Thomas Turnage, Doody's Book Reviews, January, 2017)
