Comparison of decay times of cathodoluminescence and gamma-luminescence of scintillation crystals

Abstract

Decay times of pulsed cathodoluminescence (PCL) of Lu2SiO5 (LSO) and Lu1.8Y0.2SiO5 (LYSO) crystals are compared with decay times of luminescence of similar crystals, occurring upon exposure to gamma-radiation. It is found that decay times of PCL and gamma-luminescence of corresponding crystals are identical within experimental error.
