Homeostasing kinetics of one of the main parameters of the energy metabolism of erythrocytes — the pH value of their cytoplasm

Abstract

The homeostasing kinetics of one of the main parameters of the energy metabolism of erythrocytes, i.e., the pH value of their cytoplasm is analyzed. The balance curve of cytoplasm acidification and alkalization rates on the ATP concentration (n ATP)-cytoplasm pH plane is obtained. It is found that its construction requires the use of the balance equation of active and passive cation (K+ and Na+) transport rate through cytoplasmic membranes of erythrocytes. These rates are considered as functions of pH and ATP concentrations in cytoplasm. The factors affecting the position of the obtained balance curve are determined. The assumption is made on the existence of special regulatory substances in erythrocytes, which can probably changemetabolic process rates.
