Contact Temperature of a Cuff and a Rotating Shaft

Abstract

Experimental apparatus is developed for investigating the influence of cuff heating in frictional contact with a rotating shaft. Empirical formulas for the temperature of rubber and polyurethane sealing cuffs as a function of the slip velocity and the excess pressure of the lubricant are determined.
