Determination of the degrees of reduction of anthracites from the structural and chemical characteristics of the organic matter of coals

Abstract

Reasons for different degrees of reduction of coals are analyzed. A calculated quantitative index (degree of reduction) is proposed for evaluating the degree of reduction of coals based on the structural and chemical characteristics of their organic matter. This index was used for evaluating the physicochemical properties of differently reduced isometamorphic Donbass anthracites and the products of their heat treatment at 1250°C (thermoanthracites), which are used in the production of electrode materials.
