Abstract

Topical immunotherapy may offer the best hope for patients with various forms of baldness including alopecia areata and chemotherapy-induced hair loss, reported researchers at an IBC USA conference on Immunobiological and Genetic Approaches for the Treatment of Alopecia and other Hair Disorders [ San Diego, US; March 1996 ]. The results of the largest study to date of topical immunotherapy with diphenylcyclopropenone (DPCP) as a treatment for hair loss were presented at the conference. Responses were seen in ≪ 50% of patients receiving this form of immunotherapy.
