New clinical data from gene therapy studies

Within 10 years, gene therapy may be commonly used to treat a range of disorders, according to investigators at Strategic Research Institute’s conference, ‘ Gene Therapy: Moving From the Lab to the Clinic ’ [ San Diego, US; January 1995 ]. Details of clinical studies underway in patients with cancer and in patients with cystic fibrosis were presented at the conference, along with an update on research into the effects of gene therapy on plasma cholesterol levels.
