Antidepressant therapy revisited for bulimia nervosa

Abstract

The advent of the serotonin reuptake inhibitors has renewed interest in the use of antidepressants for treating bulimia nervosa. The first controlled trial to test the efficacy of fluvoxamine in this indication was presented at the 9th World Congress of Psychiatry, held last week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The positive results bode well for future research in this area.
