Caldan Wins Large Order

In June 2013, the Danish conveyor systems specialist Caldan Conveyor A/S received the largest order in the company’s history. Maersk Container Industry (MCI) commissioned the company to build three Power & Free conveyor system for the new surface treatment line at its plant in San Antonio in Chile. In San Antonio, MCI is building South America’s first factory for producing so-called “reefer” containers (containers with integrated cooling systems) — from welding together the container parts to surface treatment and final assembly of the finished cooling units. The production plant is the largest investment by a Danish company in South America to date, and is eventually to have a production capacity of 40,000 containers a year. Production is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2014.
