With the “Éléments de Géométrie Algébrique” Alexander Grothendieck became the leading figure in modern algebraic geometry and in 1966 he was awarded the Fields medal. The series of books, which appeared between 1960 and 1971, has been written with the collaboration of Jean Dieudonné and has reshaped algebraic geometry. The present issue contains a long Classics Revisited by Ulrich Görtz about the “Éléments de Géométrie Algébrique”. He explains the context and the content, but also refers to many famous results building on this series of books.

We have to apologize for mixing up the biographies of Gregor Gassner and Stefanie Walch in their overview article in the last issue. This is corrected in the present issue.

Finally, José Seade reviews the book “Geometry, Dynamics and Topology of Foliations” by B. Scardua and C.A. Morales Rojasi, and Salma Kuhlmann reviews the book “Asymptotic Differential Algebra and Model Theory of Transseries” by Matthias Aschenbrenner, Lou van den Dries, Joris van der Hoeven.

We hope that you enjoy reading this issue.
