Abstract

Subterranean termites are one of the most destructive but also one of the most beneficial insect groups in the world! There is no denying that termites are a powerful force when structures are infested with a large colony with many mouths to feed. Yet, in nature, without that powerful force you would find yourself knee deep in wood and cellulose debris from fallen trees. So, the trick is in keeping termites in the forests where they can perform the beneficial work they are intended to do while keeping them away from our homes where they can cause damage.
