New Reactions of Tropylium Salts with 4-Nitrobenzohydrazide, Semicarbazide, Thiosemicarbazide, and N-Benzylurea

Abstract

Reactions of tropylium tetrafluoroborate with 4-nitrobenzohydrazide, semicarbazide hydrochloride, thiosemicarbazide, and N-benzylurea afforded the corresponding mono- and/or ditropyl derivatives, N′-(cyclohepta-2,4,6-trien-1-yl)-4-nitrobenzohydrazide, N′,N′-di(cyclohepta-2,4,6-trien-1-yl)-4-nitrobenzohydrazide, 2,2-di(cyclohepta-2,4,6-trien-1-yl)hydrazine-1-carboxamide, N-2-di(cyclohepta-2,4,6-trien-1-yl)hydrazinecarbothioamide, and N-benzyl-3-(cyclohepta-2,4,6-trien-1-yl)urea, as potential biologically active compounds.
