Abstract

The article reports studies into the influence of negative temperature on energy consumption in rock failure. In terms of limestone sampled at the Udachny and Mokhsogollokh Open Pit Mines and kimberlite sampled at the Internatsionalnaya and Udachnaya Pipes, it is found that energy consumption in rock failure greatly decreases in the temperature range between − 5 and − 15°C.
