Abstract
We study a problem traditional for applied aerodynamics, namely the correspondence between the rotation of a flying symmetrical object and its rotation around a spherical joint in the flow of a wind tunnel. The object is constructed in such a way that in both cases there exists a mode of its stationary rotation around the symmetry axis. Stability conditions in this mode, however, turn out to be (formally) different [1]. Nevertheless, characteristic motions of the object “at large” show some qualitative similarity in both cases.
