Abstract
A method of the direct light-to-electric energy conversion in photoplasma is proposed. The photo emf was observed in experiments on the pulsed laser excitation of sodium vapors. It is demonstrated that the separation of charged particles in the plasma is caused by the inhomogeneous distribution of resonance-excited atoms in the direction of optical excitation.
