The Role of Host Immunity to Arthropod Vectors in Regulating the Transmission of Vector Borne Diseases

Cellular and humoral immune responses against arthropod vector antigens in invertebrate hosts affect vector physiology and significantly modulate the transmission of pathogens. This phenomenon may be the basis for novel methods of disease control based on immunization against arthropod antigens. Current research in this field is briefly reviewed.

Des réactions cellulaires et humorales contre des antigèns de vecteurs arthropodes dans des hôtes verté brés affectent la physiologie et modulent de façon significative la transmission de pathogènes. Le phénomène peut être à la base de nouvelles méthodes de contrôle des maladies basées sur l’immunization contre des antigènes d’arthropodes. La recherche actuelle dans ce domaine est brièvement résumée.
