The Immature Stages and Chaetotaxy of Epicerura pulverulenta Hampson (Lepidoptera: Notodontidae)

This paper describes the immature stages of the striped caterpillar Epicerura pulverulenta Hampson, a notodontid defoliator of combretaceous trees, viz., Terminalia ivorensis, T. superba, T. catappa and Anogeissus leiocarpus. The structure and chaetotaxy of the mature (fifth stage) larva is described in detail with illustrations to aid easy field identification of the moth.

Cette etude décrit les étapes délia chenille rayée pas assez développée, Epicerura pulverulenta Hampson, une defoliateur notodontide, des arbres combretaceuses viz Terminalia ivorensis, T. superba, T. catappa et Anogeissus leiocarpus. La structure et la chaetotaxie d’une larve développée (5e étape) ont ete bien illustre par des exemples pour faciliter l’identité spécifique de la phalène au cours de travail.
