Rainfastness and Efficacy of Spray Deposits of Cypermethrin on Neonate Codling Moth Larvae, Cydia pomonella

Seedlings of apple variety, Yarlington mill, were sprayed with different sprays containing 0.1% Cypermethrin, and were subjected for 15 min to 65.3 mm artificial rainfall. The effectiveness of deposits after rainfall were tested in the laboratory with neonate codling moth larvae.

Cypermethrin formulations sprayed with each nozzle were more persistent after artificial rain, when small droplets of volume median diameter (VMD = 30–70 μm) were applied by spinning discs (charged or uncharged) compared with larger droplets (VMD* = 90–160 μm) produced by air shear nozzle. No significant difference in effects was obtained between droplets by either charged or uncharged disc.

Plantules du pomme variété Yarlington mill ont été pulvérisés par des pulvérisants différents contenant 0.1 pourcent de Cypermethrin. Quelques plantules pulvérisés ont été choisies au hassard et exposées pendant 15 minutes à une pluie artificielle de 65.3 mm.

Des feuilles ont été prises au hassard de chaque groupe de plantule (avec et sans pluie) et les effets de retenu déposé ont été testé au laboratoire avec Cydia pomonella larve.

Formulations de Cypermethrin pulvérisé par chaque bec ont été plus persistants aprés la pluie artificielle; quand des petites goutteiettes (VMD = 30–70 μm) ont été appliquées gouttelettes (VMD = 90–160 μm produites par bec air tondu.

Pas de difference significante n’ a été obtenu entre gouttelettes par soit disque roulant.
