Dear Readers and Members

Warm greetings and Happy New Year from IOA President office.

It gives me immense pleasure to address all readers and members through our esteemed journal.

The year 2020 has come to an end, which has been punctuated by a yearlong global pandemic and its repercussions, which has affected all facets of our life.

The morale of the community was all time low and keeping up the scientific and academic activities a mammoth task in the given scenario. Nonetheless, I can safely assert that the Journal and association both did exceptionally well during my tenure.

Increased readership, circulation, and extremely rewarding MOU with Springer have been illustrious accomplishment of the year and these had been catapulting factors in our journal’s exponential growth. Specialty editions, Olympic special, and featured articles by the authorities of the respective field have been the brainchild of our editorial team, which has been a highlight of our journal this year.

Various IJO paper writing courses through the length and breadth of the country, under the stewardship of Dr. Lalit Maini, had been my favorite activity. This is something which has been in sync with my presidential theme for this year “Perfection & excellence in orthopaedic education & patient care: an achievable vision”. Various IOA online PG teaching courses, webinars, and web symposium by state chapters had been also instrumental toward achieving the same goal.

I must also highlight IOA office activity during the height of the pandemic, wherewith my efforts, we exhorted donors and funds to avail facemasks and PPE kits for every single member of our august organization. This was a herculean task considering the prevailing situation where every mode of transportation had come to a standstill. It was a token of respect and solidarity extended by the IOA office to our members, who battled with scary pandemic valiantly risking their own life.

New Year has brought us new hopes and I sincerely wish that our journal would become one of the most coveted scientific publication across the specialties.

I am deeply thankful to all; authors, reviewers, and editorial board to take this journal to unprecedented heights. We are all biased in our life about the achievements of our team members but I am firmly in the opinion that even cynics and critics will appreciate the achievement of team IJO and IOA to make this journal one of the most coveted in academia. Likewise, during the year, which was marred by the darkness of pandemic, my team members and I raised our hands and did the best of our efforts to keep up the scientific and organizational activities of the association. This was an achievement to be cherished for posterity.

In the end, I must appreciate my junior colleague Dr. Arun K Sharma who has always been at my beck and call and I must appreciate all those frontline COVID warriors including residents who have continued to work tirelessly. I would also like to extend my deep and sincere gratitude to all those who have lost their lives during these testing times of COVID.

With warm wishes,
