I have assumed the role of editor-in-chief of International Journal of Aeronautical and Space Sciences (IJASS) since July 1, 2018. It is a great honor and a challenge for me to serve as the new EIC of IJASS. Thanks to the devotion of the EIC emeriti, professors In Lee and Min-Jea Tahk, IJASS was able to achieve the current standing in the international aerospace engineering community. During the tenure of Prof. Lee, IJASS had been indexed and abstracted in major scientific index services, such as SCOPUS and SCIE. Prof. Tahk decided to publish IJASS with Springer to increase the visibility of the publication, and to make such transition a smooth process.

As the new EIC, I will do my best to preserve, enhance, and continue the legacy of IJASS. Due to the broad scope of IJASS, we have 9 technical editors and over 80 associate editors who are in charge of reviewing the papers in 8 technical areas that include Aerodynamics, Structures and Materials, Structural Dynamics and Aeroelasticity, Propulsion and Combustion, Guidance and Control, Navigation and Avionics, Space Systems and Aircraft and UAV Systems. Therefore, this is quite a challenge for me as well as TE’s and AE’s to complete the review in a relatively short time without compromising the quality of the accepted manuscript. We have seen a steady increase in the number of papers submitted from outside of Korea. To truly become an international journal, IJASS will continue to solicit contributions from the international authors. To increase our readership, we will continue to invite guest editors from amongst prominent scholars for upcoming special issues.

I look forward to working with the authors, readers, associate EIC, TE’s and AE’s, and other editorial staff members. I also welcome any suggestions and comments.
