I was amazed to see how broadly the Information Geometry idea has spread (A visit to Wikipedia was an eye-opener). The Japanese school, pioneered by Professor Shun-ichi Amari’s seminal work, has taken the lead in bringing sophisticated information geometrical ideas to the world of statistical inference. Now we are inaugurating a new journal with Information Geometry as its name, which is a good sign both for the journal and for statistics. It starts with my best wishes and hopes for success.
