Het lijkt niet onaannemelijk dat mensen met autisme op latere leeftijd in toenemende mate last krijgen van aandoeningen zoals dementie. Maar recent onderzoek suggereert juist het tegendeel. Aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam probeert hoogleraar neuropsychologie Hilde Geurts een nog vrijwel braakliggend onderzoeksterrein te ontginnen.
