Fraude – ook wel aangeduid met termen als bedrog, valsheid in geschrifte, oplichting en dergelijke – komt in ontelbare varianten voor. Algemeen verwoord gaat het hierbij om het opzettelijk benadelen van anderen om er zelf beter van te worden op een manier die onrechtmatig of onwettig is. Die laatste toevoeging is van cruciaal belang.
