Pilot Injection Strategies for Medium-speed Dual-fuel Engines
- 73 Downloads
The dual-fuel engine concept is one possible approach to minimize the air pollutants but to keep high efficiencies at the same time. As a part of the project LEDF concepts, which was realized at the University of Rostock, experimental investigations of the boundary conditions of the dual-fuel combustion process regarding fuel injection, mixture formation and the ignition behavior had been carried out at a medium-speed single-cylinder research engine.

The LEDF concepts 2 project (project number: 03SX421A) is supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (on the basis of a decision by the German Bundestag). Furthermore, the authors would like to thank the associated project partners Caterpillar Motoren GmbH & Co. KG, KS Kolbenschmidt GmbH, Schaller Automation GmbH & Co. KG and Kompressorenbau Bannewitz GmbH for supporting the project.
